GO Virginia Region 6
CARE Project
The Career Advancement and Resource Education Project (CARE) is a regional workforce strategy supported through GO Virginia Region 6. It brings together employers, educators, and workforce professionals to align training with documented industry demand and develop employer-driven career pathways.
Key Outcomes
- Regional Workforce Dashboard built on JobsEQ labor market data
- Employer Toolkit developed for skills-based hiring and talent pipeline management
- Aligned training across manufacturing, IT, and aquaculture sectors
- Strengthened connections between employers and education providers
RCC Advanced Machining Program
Developed through collaboration between Bay Consortium, Rappahannock Community College, regional manufacturers, and economic development organizations to directly address the regional shortage of skilled CNC machinists in the Northern Neck and Middle Peninsula.
Program Highlights
- 180 hours of hands-on CNC machining instruction
- Training in materials, programming, machine setup, and operations
- Three National Institute for Metalworking Skills (NIMS) credentials attainable
- Capacity to train approximately 40 students annually
Lancaster County CTE Innovation
Bay Consortium is supporting workforce planning efforts with Lancaster County Public Schools as they explore innovative Career and Technical Education programming aligned with GO Virginia Region 6 priorities — preparing the next generation of workers for the region’s key industries.
