WIOA Support for Job Seekers

The Workforce Innovation and Opportunity Act (WIOA) provides funding to help eligible adults, dislocated workers, and youth access the resources and training they need to succeed in today’s workforce.

Job Training That Leads to Careers

WIOA can help eligible job seekers access approved training programs, certifications, and skill-building opportunities connected to in-demand careers.

Our services are available to job seekers across the Bay Consortium region. Some specialized programs have eligibility requirements, but many career services are open to anyone looking for guidance and support.

Do I need an appointment?

Appointments are helpful because they give staff time to focus on your needs, but many locations can also assist walk-ins during posted hours. Calling ahead is the best way to confirm availability.

Where do I search for jobs?

You can search openings through our Job Listings page, the Virginia Workforce Connection, and other regional job resources. Bay Consortium staff can also help you navigate listings, applications, and prepare for interviews.

What should I bring to my first visit?

Bring a current resume if you have one, a valid ID, and any documents that may help explain your work history, education, or training background. If you are unsure, the job center can tell you what is most useful before your visit.

Do your services have a cost?

Most core career services are available at no cost, including job search support, resume help, and career guidance. Some programs have eligibility guidelines, but there is no cost to speak with Bay Consortium staff about your options.

Can The Bay Consortium help after I get a job?

The Bay Consortium may be able to provide follow-up support, coaching, and additional resources that help you stay employed, strengthen your skills, and continue moving forward in your career.
