FutureFest is an exciting, hands-on career exploration experience designed specifically for 7th-grade students across Virginia’s Northern Neck and Middle Peninsula. Hosted by the Bay Consortium Workforce Development Board, FutureFest introduces students to the wide range of careers, industries, and opportunities available throughout our region while helping them begin thinking about their future goals.

Through interactive exhibits, demonstrations, simulations, and conversations with local employers and professionals, students will explore careers in skilled trades, healthcare, public safety, technology, education, manufacturing, hospitality, agriculture, transportation, and many other high-demand industries.

FutureFest is designed to help students:

• Discover careers they may not have previously considered
• Connect classroom learning to real-world career opportunities
• Learn about workforce opportunities available within their local communities
• Explore the skills and education needed for different career pathways
• Build confidence, curiosity, and excitement about their future

Unlike a traditional career fair, FutureFest emphasizes hands-on learning and active participation. Students are encouraged to ask questions, try new activities, and engage directly with professionals who can share their experiences and career journeys.
